Biography

For more than 4 decades The Bar-Kays have thrilled and mesmerized audiences all over the world with their spontaneity and excitement!

This has been a trademark of the group ever since their inception in the early 60’s. Beginning as a house band with Stax records in 1966, The Bar-Kays’ potent dynamic sound carried them to chart topping success with their first million selling single release “Soul Finger”, a dance track that evoked Rock as well as Soul. By the summer of 1967, “Soul Finger” had hit #17 on the Pop charts and #3 on the Soul charts and subsequently the band was awarded a Gold Record. Overnight the band was in demand for live shows with their fellow Stax and Volt artists. While at Stax the band played on many legendary recordings of artists like Eddie Floyd, Otis Redding, Johnny Taylor, Sam & Dave, Wilson Picket, Rufus & Carla Thomas, Albert King and Isaac Hayes (including the legendary albums “Hot Buttered Soul”, “Black Moses” & the Grammy Award winning “Shaft”).

Now, for the first time ever, The Bar-Kays invite you to spend an evening with them in concert as they pay tribute to the artists and the sweet soul music of Stax records! Take a trip down memory lane, back to Memphis, with The Bar-Kays and hear them perform such classics as “Soul Man”, “Mustang Sally”, “Knock on Wood”, “Green Onions”, “Shaft”, “Soul Finger”, “Dock of the Bay”, “Hold on” and many many more.

The Bar-Kays’ Soul 2 Soul Revue stage show includes costume changes and a video montage of many magical moments and exciting performance clips of the Stax artists whose songs are played in the show, including special tributes to the late great Otis Redding and the Grammy Award winning Isaac Hayes.
